Mind mapping and LCSH
This morning I was catching up on some of my listservs and reading a digest form of the New Generation Catalog for Libraries listserv << NGC4LIB@listserv.nd.edu >>. There were some interesting ideas about using LCSHs and del.icio.us. By doing this the users/designers were essentially creating mind maps with LCSH terms that allow entry to bib type records:

http://del.icio.us/infomotions/alex/
The first one is very pretty and striking but also a bit overwhelming. The second is more structured but less overwhelming. Both are interesting ideas.
I have not used mind maps and find them somewhat confusing to use or navigate but I know that others love them. For instance, AquaBrowser is the popular version for library catalogs:

What are others thoughts on this?
