Links and Next Generation Warm Up

Since we are focusing on the Next Generation Library this spring, I thought I would throw out what others are doing on this topic. College of DuPage is presenting a teleconference called "Next Gen Librarianship: Where Do We Go from Here?". It will broadcast on Feb. 9th at 11:00 am (CST). If you miss it, contact the Bellevue University Library about borrowing a copy of the program after its showing.

In other news, please stay glued to our Resources page for updated information on tech links, articles and other newsletters in library land.

Next Generation Library May 18, 2007

Can you visualize the Next Generation Library? If you can, please consider submitting a proposal for the joint Technical Services Round Table and College and University Section Spring Meeting on May 18th at Union College in Lincoln. Speculation about the next generation catalog seems to be everywhere and that would be a great topic for a TSRT member to submit. If interested, please submit your proposal to Melissa Cast-Brede, mcast@mail.unomaha.edu with the title of the presentation, presenter(s) names, job title, institution, phone, email, program length (1 or 2 hours), equipment needs, and a short description. Deadline is March 1 so don't delay!

Thank You!

I just want to send out a special thanks to Scott Childers for helping me get our new web site and blog up and running on the www.nebraskalibraries.org site. I could not have done it without him. Thanks! -- Casey Kralik.

Technically Speaking as a blog

At the Business Meeting at NLA, I raised the idea of changing our newsletter, Technically Speaking, from being a paper newsletter to using our website. This blog is part of how we hope to use the TSRT website. The TSRT officers & appointed positions (like newsletter editors) can all post to this blog. So hopefully you'll be hearing from all of us at various times. We encourage TSRT members (and others) to comment.

We also hope to have articles like we did in Technically Speaking but not at regular intervals or all at one time. So we'll still be out there, soliciting others to write. And if you have something you want to share with your colleagues at TSRT, please feel free to let one of us know. We want this to be your TSRT online community.
