New Endeca-based union catalog at the Florida Center for Library Automation. http://catalog.fcla.edu/ Highlights are:

  • extracted the MARC records from all of our 11 individual Aleph catalogs and loaded them into a single database, deduping on OCLC number only.  From this created the file that loads into Endeca. As of now, have 6,806,461 records in the database.
  • attempted to keep as much unique data as possible to widen the retrieval potential, e.g., notes and other fields (and have more work to do with this part of the process).
  • added capability of querying our Aleph catalogs in real-time to display location, holdings and circ status information rather than loading static data into the Endeca OPAC.
  • added the NLM class range to the Narrow by Call Number... section and are working on SuDocs.
