Mem Fox is an internationally respected children's author and literacy
consultant. She will present two programs:
1) Dirt Roads or Highways? Two Different Directions to Literacy. This
talk is a full-on read aloud talk, and Mem will clearly show what happens
to children socially, psychologically, educationally, and even physically
if they are NOT read to.
2) Reading Aloud So People Stay Awake, Stay Active and Stay with You.
In this program, Mem will read aloud and involve participants in this
process. Participants will copy Mem and learn the reasons behind her approach
and techniques used with a particular reading material.

Computer Hardware Confidence Pre-Conference Workshop
Presenter: John Seyfarth
Location: Kearney Public Library
Date: Wednesday October 24th
Time: 8:30 - 11:30 AM or 1:00 - 4:00 PM
The Pre-conference will provide the participants with the skills to be
more self-sufficient in handling hardware problems that they may encounter.
The participants will be building a computer from parts and install an
operating system during the session as well as becoming familiar with
typical troubleshooting and remove & replace tasks. The goal is to provide
the participant with enough confidence to tackle some of these problems
without having to call out very expensive "geeks" to solve the problem.
