The 2012 C&U Spring meeting in conjunction with S& I, "Connected & Collaborating: Nebraska Libraries" will be held Friday, May 18th at Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Presenters are needed for the break-out session (50 minutes) and the always exciting Lighting Round (multiple presenters, 8-10 minutes each).

If you are interested in presenting at the Spring meeting, email your proposal to Marcia Dority Baker. Proposals should include: your contact info, presentation type (breakout session or lighting round), and a brief summary of the presentation (1-2 paragraphs). Any questions about Spring meeting presentations can be emailed to mdoritybaker2@unl.edu as well. Presentation proposals are due by February 20th.

Is there conference or workshop that you are planning to attend during the summer in 2012?
Get a jump on the funding by applying for the C&U Professional Development grant. Applications are due by January 30, 2012. Send your application by email to Ben Brick. He is happy to answer any questions you may have.

Joyce Neujahr, Patron Services Director at Criss Library, UNO, received this year's College & University Section's Distinguished Service Award for 2011. Neujahr's career includes service in school and academic libraries, with special interest in community outreach and emerging technologies. Among her many career achievements, Neujahr creatively pioneered the use of Kindle ebooks to supplement interlibrary loan at UNO and she served C & U as ACRL liaison for several years. Neujahr continues to support libraries through frequent conference presentations, published articles, and as a board member for the Eastern Library System.

Lorraine Patrick, Bellevue University Library, and Stephanie Viola, Criss Library, UNO, were awarded grants to the 2011 Nebraska Library Leadership Institute, July 10-14, 2011. These were offered in lieu of the 2011 Spring Professional Development Grant, for which there were no applicants.

Beth Lighthipe, Reference/Instruction Librarian at Bellevue University, was the recipient of the Spring 2011 C & U Professional Development Grant. As an ALA Emerging Leader, Beth will use the funds to travel to the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA.
