Planning our Future While Remembering our Past
PLANNING THE FUTURE
Speaker: Miguel Figueroa, Director of the American Library Association’s Center for the Future of Libraries
Miguel will be sharing insights on the following topics:
Trends and Signals for the Library of the Future
How can foresight and trend scanning help us envision the libraries of the future? How can all of us become better skilled at thinking about and talking with our communities about the trends and signals that will transform our libraries and communities? This session will draw on some of the lessons learned by ALA’s Center for the Future of Libraries, the trend scanning that they are promoting, and some of the connections that can be made from futuring to innovation for better libraries.
From Futuring to Innovation
In this interactive session, attendees will take some of the trend scanning from the Center for the Future of Libraries – as well as their own community insights and evidence – and consider a positive innovation for the future of libraries. This activity helps demonstrate how we can all use a futures-focused approach, and our commitment to library values, to help build the libraries of the future.
REMEMBERING THE PAST
Nebraska Writer’s Guild members will share information about their Six Corners of Nebraska workshop series in celebration of Nebraska’s Sesquicentennial year along with other exciting events planned this year.
Attendees are encouraged to bring information to share about activities taking place in their communities for this special year in Nebraska’s history.
