ALA Emerging Leaders Program award winner
Greetings everyone:
I am delighted to announce that Marcia Dority Baker, head of circulation services at the Schmid Law Library at the University of Nebraska College of Law, will be sponsored by the Nebraska Library Association to participate in the ALA emerging leaders program in 2008. The sponsorship includes $1,000 to help pay expenses for Marcia's attendance at Leadership Program activities at the 2008 ALA midwinter and summer meetings. Emerging Leaders began in 2007 as one of ALA President Leslie Burger’s six initiatives. ALA has committed to making this program available annually. The Emerging Leaders program enables new librarians to get on the fast track to ALA and professional leadership. More information is posted on the ALA Emerging Leaders web site.
Many thanks to Charlene Maxey Harris and the selection committee from the New Members Roundtable, who led the selection process. Marcia will be recognized at the NLA business luncheon on Thursday, October 25. NEMA is also sponsoring a participant, Carrie Turner, the media specialist at Omaha Westside High School. Please join me in congratulating Marcia and Carrie!
