Paraprofessional Scholarship
The Paraprofessional Section of the Nebraska Library Association wants you!
What’s the Paraprofessional Section? We’re support staff, administrative assistants, public library directors, and librarian assistants all across the state. We’re also the folks who gave you Library Jeopardy, Cultural Beliefs, and Map to a Successful Meeting sessions at the 2005 NLA/NEMA conference and The Great Library Safari: Dinos, Llamas and Lizards and Cultural Competence sessions at the 2006 NLA/NEMA conference. We also partnered with other sections for the 2005 Caring for the Mind Preconference and the 2004 Hispanic Voices @ your library® Preconference. The Paraprofessional Section has the one and only teleconferenced Spring Meeting- this year’s theme is Explore and Experience Your Library. Some of you might know us best for the tequila basket raffled off at the 2005 Conference.
To sum it up, we’re the section striving to meet your educational (and socializing) needs!
But enough about us, you say, what about the free money? Well, we know that many NLA members are able to join just one section, often the one your institution feels suits it best. We would like to give you the opportunity to join the Paraprofessional Section if you aren’t already a member-with ten $10 scholarships. These scholarships will cover the cost to add a section to your current NLA membership. You may add a section by sending Kathy Thomsen a membership form and sending a check for 25% of your basic dues. If you’d like to receive one of these scholarships, or have questions, please contact Jenni Puchalla, jennip@alltel.net. (You may also change from one section to another at no additional cost.)
