Open Access, Open Borders: Networking with Colleagues across State Lines 

Dear Nebraska C&U members, 

You are cordially invited to attend the joint spring conference of the Kansas Library Association-College and University Libraries Section (CULS) and the Nebraska Library Association College & University Section, April 22, 2016, at the Holiday Inn at the Campus in Manhattan, KS. 

A pre-conference and social events are planned for the afternoon and evening of April 21.

Preconference session Thursday April 21st:  ALICE TRAINING C. Jason Kegler, Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities, Pittsburg State University. Pittsburg, Kansas

ALICE is the leading training solution that increases students’ and employees’ odds of survival during a violent intruder event. ALICE, which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate, is a post-Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook strategy that goes beyond the conventional lockdown. Mr. Kegler will address situations specific to college and university libraries and resource areas.   A guest panel will follow up with questions and comments.

Alice Training Pre-conference Breakout Session (April 21st 1:00 PM-4:30 PM) is
$20.00 for Nebraska C & U or  Kansas CULS members
$25.00 for non-member
$15.00 for library science students.  This includes all drinks and snacks (please indicate gluten free and/or vegetarian preference)

Networking with Colleagues (April 21st 5:00 PM-6:30 PM)
$10 per person
Light fare/Cash Bar/Entertainment

Dinner/Evening Activities
A complete list of activities will be available Mid-March for groups/individuals.  Prices vary.

Conference Fees (April 22nd 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) 
$60.00 for Nebraska C & U or  Kansas CULS members
$80.00 for non-member
$45.00 for library science students.  This includes all snacks and meals (please indicate gluten free and/or vegetarian preference).

We are pleased to offer guest rooms at the Holiday Inn At the Campus for $99.95. Located across the street from Kansas State University and within walking distance of Manhattan Christian College, the Holiday Inn At the Campus is within walking distance of many attractions, including restaurants and historic Aggieville. See methods below to secure your room for the conference rate of $99.95 per night until March 29th.
Rooms not guaranteed by March 29, 2016  March 31, 2016, will be released back to the hotel.
Reservations received after March 29, 2016 March 31, 2016, will be based on availability and rate. “No Show” and cancellation less than 48 hours prior to arrival will forfeit the individuals deposit. All guest rooms are non-smoking; failure to comply will result in a $250 deep cleaning fee.
