This is an exciting year for NLA. We are re-envisioning our relevance. However, we aren’t just planning to make a few improvements and then call it done. Our efforts to make the organization stronger and more useful to our members will be ongoing, and we’ll need new faces, new hands, and new ideas to keep making NLA and all of our sections and round tables better.

If you want to shape the direction the organization takes in 2019 and beyond, then please consider running for office!

All candidates must be finalized by April 30, 2018. Election winners will take office in October, at our annual conference. You must be a current NLA member to run for office. To run for a section or round table office, you must be a member of that section or round table. The good news is that ANY member may run. If you have the interest, time, and skill to take a leadership position, then you don’t have to wait for someone to invite you--volunteer to run for office!

NLA is shifting as many meetings as possible to online venues, to help those who cannot travel for meetings, so please don't let geography be a barrier! We need more rural and Western Nebraska voices in our organization's leadership! We need folks from all types of libraries, and all types of library jobs!

Three NLA Board positions are up for election in 2018:

President-Elect -- three year term (first year as Vice President, second year as President, and third year as Past President)

Secretary -- two year term

MPLA Representative -- three year term (must be member of both NLA

 and MPLA)

Each Section and Round Table will also be electing new officers as well.

Each group will be electing a new Chair-Elect (three year

term), and most will have at least one other office open as well. So there are many, many opportunities to get involved.

If you're interested in running for an NLA office (President Elect, Secretary, or MPLA Representative), please contact NLA Past President Angela Kroeger

If you're interested in running for a Section or Round Table office, please contact one of the officers or board members of that organization. If you're not sure who the

contact person is for your section or round table, contact me, and I'll help.

Thank you!

Angela Kroeger
